News and analysis of the new Department of Justice probe into the FBI's Russia collusion investigation

Recently declassified footnotes in the IG report provides new evidence of politics and bad faith at the top.

In an interview with Fox News host Laura Ingraham last week, Attorney General William Barr said, "There is something far more troubling here." Indeed, what we have uncovered could upset political institutions in a way that has never happened here.

Barr went on to say, "What happened to him (President Trump) was one of the greatest travesties in American history" and that "what happened after the campaign a whole pattern of
events after he was president to sabotage the presidency."

DoJ Inspector General Michael Horowitz concluded in a report to Congress that the FBI investigation of President Trump was justified and not motivated by politics. Democrats have clung to that one line from Horowitz' report to claim that there was nothing wrong with the investigation. Many Democrats and members of the media continue to claim that President Trump did "collude' with Russia despite the evidence to the contrary, suggesting that it has never been about national security for Democrats but about undermining President Trump's authority.

NEW EVIDENCE indicates there was politics involved.

Although Horowitz did find 17 errors and omissions in FISA court applications signed off on by FBI Director James Comey, the Horowitz claim that there was no political motive was highly suspect.

Now CBS News reports that recently declassified footnotes from the Horowitz report to Congress shows that the FBI knew that the Steele Dossier was based on Russian disinformation -- in other words, the Steele Dossier was loaded with lies made up by Russian operatives intended to harm the Trump campaign -- and the intelligence community knew it.

The reason many of you were aware of this already is because of a column I wrote for Forbes Magazine in October of 2016 before the election. You can see my reporting here.

Now that it is clear that the FBI was aware that Russia was trying to HARM and NOT HELP President Trump, what could have been the motive to continue the investigation and leaks by the FBI and Obama holdovers at the Justice Department? Seems rather obvious that it was politically motivated.

And look closer at the center of this -- Comey and the rest of the political leadership of the intelligence community claimed they were looking out for U.S. national security by investigating President Trump for his so-called "Russia collusion" when in reality THEY were doing Russia's bidding by treating the Russian disinformation as though it were true.

So in the name of investigating Trump for Russian collusion the intelligence community was actually colluding with Russia themselves in order to damage the president.

Again, we have been reporting this to you in small pieces all along; now the other media is finally catching up.
